MamaDoc is a free community for Black, Brown and migrant women navigating pregnancy, birth and motherhood in the UK. Led by NHS GPs and midwives who have lived this journey too.
MamaDoc is a community interest company, meaning we are not-for-profit and community-owned. Founded by Black NHS doctors and midwives who are also parents.
We know what it feels like to navigate pregnancy in a system that was not built with us in mind. The appointments that feel rushed. The questions you are afraid to ask. The moments you go home and frantically Google things at 3 am.
We built MamaDoc because every Black, Brown and migrant mother deserves to feel informed, supported and completely seen from her first antenatal appointment through to those tender, Exhausting, beautiful postpartum months.
Everything we offer is free or heavily subsidised. Because the barrier to support should never be money.
That is what we are here for.
When Dr Yusuf and Dr Nimat became parents in the UK, far from family and support networks, they discovered something uncomfortable: even as NHS doctors, the system felt hard to navigate.
The random Google spirals. The moments of doubt. The longing for someone who just got it.
That is why MamaDoc exists.
Drop-in community sessions where you can ask a real midwife or healthcare professional anything. No appointment. No waiting list. No judgement. Just honest expert support. This offering is available in Leicester only at present.
Subsidised antenatal classes led by NHS GPs and midwives who are also parents. We cover what to expect in labour, your rights as a patient and how to advocate for yourself and your baby.
Informal hangouts where you can connect with other Black, Brown and migrant mums going through
the same things over brunch, coffee or tea. No agenda. No pressure. Just community.
Real stories from real mums. Honest, unfiltered, powerful. Because when you hear your story in someone else's voice, you know, you are not alone.
Here, we prioritise your emotional wellbeing and support at every stage. It’s your fears validated, listened to and adequately signposted to the right support.
